Interesting snippet

I try not to be pushy with my newfound zeal for agnosticism/ humanism. It's fascinating to me just how many people out there share the views that I've been almost embarrassed of having since childhood. Thank you marvelous internet-tubes. I no longer feel like an outsider in a Christian society. Now I'm merely a minority! I'm slowly learning that the word atheist is really a benign term even though it gets pushed into the "evil cult" category by society.

  • Zeal or not, I think it's great you've found your niche. I think the world would be a happier place if people figured out what they really believe and learn about it rather than just going along with what parents or schools or friends or society have told us is correct and desirable. Keep posting!

  • I'm with ya. Although I go through phases, it's been a long time since I've been able to accept the Jesus story in whole. I keep thinking that if so many people believe it, there has to be truth there, right? And then I think about all of the other religions and how large their fan base is and I end up right back at square one.

  • Some guy stopped by my car at a red light today and started honking his horn and motioning for me to roll down the window. He wanted to know where I'd gotten the Flying Spaghetti Monster emblem that's on my car. That pleased me. There are more of us out there!

  • Thanks guys. That was a whole lot more support than I ever expected for an entry that I almost didn't bother posting. :D

I've been close to "being" a Christian a couple times, and looking back it always amounted to a massive amount of peer pressure. Oddly enough, the times I was closest to accepting Christianity were some of my darkest, loneliest days. Makes sense that I wanted that social crutch at the time.

I am sooooo tracking down that FSM emblem. I've come close many times to getting the Darwin fish emblem, but it seems a little in-your-face and confrontational. The Flying Spaghetti Monster, however is just friggin in-your-face hilarious!
