Cuteness, messiness, and eew!
The next three pictures will get progressively worse, depending on how easily you are disturbed. It will, however, reveal something about me you probably didn't know.
1. Apparently, even dogs blink when you snap the shutter.
2. Lasagna is still too fun to contain.
3. Turtles and chopsaws don't mix.
I told you so. The dude in the car was just trying to be like me.
Anyways, it's been almost 8 years since I lost a very strongly worded argument with a saw. Answers to the most popular questions;
Q. Did it hurt?
A. Not at all. Shock took care of that. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes later, shock wore off and the morphine hadn't completely kicked in yet. Then it hurt like hell.
Q. Do you ever have phantom pains or phantom feelings (like it's still there)?
A. Not at all.
Q. Can you still use your hand/finger?
A. I had an awesome hand surgeon and adjusted easily. I still have complete feeling in every part (that is left) of my finger. I do use my middle finger for most things that used to take an index finger, like left-clicking the mouse. Buttons are mildly annoying, but that's about it.
Q. Are you self-conscious about it?
A. Obviously not. Most people work with me days or even months before they notice it. When I did more commercial electrical work and wore gloves most days, some went years without noticing. It doesn't affect my work and I don't make a big deal about it. I screwed up once and it makes a good training aid from time to time when you want to drive home the topic of safety at work. Like I tell them , go to a hospital and ask an accident victim if they expected to end up there that day. I do feel a little weird waving to people behind me in traffic, because I know if I relax my ring finger it could easily be confused for giving them the bird.

So here's a new question:
As a commercial electrician myself, I wear gloves nearly constantly (except when trying to run a nut onto all-thread...then it's annoying). I find that as I have very small hands, my contractor has to special order gloves in size extra-small so the tips of the fingers of the gloves don't get caught or ripped. When you wear gloves over your hurt hand, do you let the loose glove finger be, or do you bind it for safety with jap-wrap or a rubber band? That's what I'd do; just wondering your thoughts.

Is that your son?! I honestly don't think I've ever seen a picture of him yet... I'm curious though -- what prompted the use of those particular pictures? At the risk of pissing off people who I have no intention of pissing off, I could argue that all 3 contain dogs. ;) it just seems like some pictures you came across while cleaning and realized you had to make am entry.

Flashtrigger - No special tricks. I just have one floppy glove finger. I often uset to gripe and joke about cutting those glove fingers down, but with leather work gloves and my lack of both sewing skills and compelling enough initiative, I never actually did. I used to wear through a nice pair of deer or goatskin gloves every 1-2 months anyways. The cheap cowskin gloves can last longer, but it's like wearing cardboard to me. We do too many dexterous activities to be wearing uncomfortable gloves.
Jedaroonie - Nope, no sons yet. That's my 2nd daughter, and one of the two girlie dogs (and not in that order). I wanted to segue from the previous article about the guy losing an arm to my missing 1/3 digit without just throwing a pic up of my hand and having people come and say WTF? Not the most effective way, I guess. Cue the crickets....

Oh wow. My dad cut his thumb off with a saw when I was a kid but was able to have it put back on.
Love the look on lasagna girl's face!
My dog's have learned to not blink. That gets the photo session over sooner and they can go back to sleep.
